Connect with the outdoors at the Minnesota DNR’s 2026 State Fair exhibits, presentations
Through popular annual attractions, exhibits, activities and presentations, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ building and surrounding grounds at the Minnesota State Fair (Aug. 27 to Sept. 7) provide a unique opportunity for fairgoers to experience and learn about nature.
“People often tell me that the DNR is their favorite stop at the State Fair, and I think that reflects how much Minnesotans care about our natural resources,” DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen said. “From our fish pond and native gardens to our knowledgeable nature experts or stage presentations, the State Fair is an amazing time to connect with or learn something new about the outdoors.”
The DNR Building and surrounding grounds are located at the corner of Carnes Ave. and Nelson St. in Falcon Heights. The building is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily during the fair.

- Learning about how to prevent wildfires at the Wildlife Prevention Building, the 65-foot Fire Tower or with Smokey Bear.
- Asking questions about natural resources and outdoor recreation from the DNR or its partners at the DNR Information Booth, the License Center desk, the Minnesota State Parks and Trails Center or partner booths.
- Interacting with exhibits to learn more about native species of birds in Minnesota and their songs or how to prevent the spread of invasive species.
