Check out your House at the Great Minnesota Get-Together

Fairgoers are invited to weigh in on hot political topics and meet with legislators during their visit to the House of Representatives’ booth at the 2026 Minnesota State Fair.

Located in the Education Building, the booth highlight is the informal, unscientific House opinion poll. Nearly 10,000 votes were cast last year.

This year, fairgoers can let their opinions be known on a dozen issues, including:

  • prohibiting semiautomatic military-style assault weapons;
  • needing a photo ID to vote;
  • gubernatorial term limits;
  • Operation Metro Surge redress;
  • covering infertility treatment; and
  • increased school funding.

Results are scheduled to be on the House website (house.mn.gov) Sept. 8, the day after the fair closes.

Folks can also talk to members, stand behind a replica of the House Speaker’s desk for a photo opportunity, and pick up legislative information and the always-popular Capitol Dome hat.
