ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin initial work on Monday, Oct. 5, to reconstruct the northbound Highway 15 overpass bridge to westbound Highway 10 in Sauk Rapids, Benton County. MnDOT expects about three weeks of prep work, weather permitting, with minimal traffic impacts as crews realign the right-turn lane at Benton County Road 29. Major bridge reconstruction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
The project will replace the northbound Highway 15 bridge over eastbound Highway 10, resurface the road approaches, replace bridge guardrail and complete additional updates as needed.
During the 2027 construction season, motorists can expect lane, shoulder or access closures at the Highway 10 and Highway 15 work site. Nighttime detours will be required using the County Road 29 and Highway 10 interchange. Detour map (PNG)
Traffic impacts for 2027 include the following:
- Northbound Highway 15 to westbound Highway 10 traffic will detour via eastbound County Road 29.
- Eastbound Highway 10 traffic will exit to southbound Highway 15 and follow eastbound County Road 29 to return to eastbound Highway 10.
- Access at Fourth Avenue to and from County Road 29 will close for traffic flow. Use 18th Avenue N as an alternate route.
MnDOT urges motorists to slow down, follow posted signs and be alert for crews working near traffic.
Redstone Construction, LCC, is the prime contractor for the $6.6 million project. When complete in fall 2027, motorists will benefit from a long‑lasting bridge, smoother pavement and improved safety.
