The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, along with the South Washington Watershed District, invite the public to attend an open house on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., to gather input on a proposed habitat restoration project within Lower Grey Cloud Slough, located in Pool 2 of the Mississippi River.

The meeting will be held at Glacial Valley Park, located at 9900 Ravine Parkway South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota. A short presentation will begin at 6 p.m. by the project team.

This restoration project is being planned in close partnership with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. For those unable to attend in person, a recording of the presentation will be published following the event on the St. Paul District’s YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/usacemvppao).

Community members requiring special accommodations for the meeting should contact 651-290-5807 or mailto:cemvp-pa@usace.army.mil no later than Nov. 9.

The Corps of Engineers uses the Beneficial Use of Dredged Material program for projects like this, where we can restore, protect or create aquatic and wetland habitats in connection with construction and maintenance dredging. Beneficial use of dredged material has also been used for upland habitat development, beach nourishment and levee repair and improvement.
